Chocolate and Peanut Butter. Salt and Pepper. Bacon and Eggs. Some things are known to pair just perfectly together. In woodworking, there are similarly popular species pairs. I think Red Oak and Pine deserve a similar status despite their under-appreciation as complements. The mellow grain and color of pine is a great match to oak's in-your-face patterns. Both are good on their own, but together it's a match made in heaven. These shelves on the other hand, well they could pair with anything. Lightweight and with highly customizable dimensions and shelf-placements you would have a harder time finding where they could NOT work than where they could.
